Encouraging Young Talent in the field of Sports and Games
Yatn – a relentless pursuit has extended its support in encouraging young talent in the field of sports and games by donating a gaming laptop to Musunuri Rohith Lalith Babu, in search of a Grandmaster title. “It was a gesture which is sure to lift my morale ahead of the preparations for the European circuit”, says Lalith Babu.
Having come to know of Lalith Babu’s need for a high end gaming laptop to practice ahead of his tournament, Yatn took it as a challenge to provide the promising talent with the required gaming laptop right in time to practice. Mrs Nivedita Kankanala not only spear headed the fund raising programme but also took the issue to the notice of NTR Memorial Trust.

For someone who is keen to become only the third Grandmaster from the State after Pentyala Harikrishna and Koneru Humpy, Lalith Babu, the Vijayawada-based boy was surprised when efforts of the N. T. Rama Rao Memorial Trust took up his cause to rope in possible sponsors. With Yatna Society, coming forward to donate the laptop, this promising chess player's journey to seek prospective sponsors seemed to have taken a positive turn And, to its delight, the first gesture has come much quicker than expected.

“We are now working to arrange a sponsor who should take care of Lalith's travel expenditure to Europe to him make one big step in realising his ultimate goal of becoming a Grandmaster,” says Raghu Ramarao, CEO of the Trust.

Recently, Lalith appealed to corporate groups for assistance. Having won the gold in December 2009 Singapore Commonwealth Championship, this 18-year-old young talent is aiming high.“Winning the third Leiden Open tournament in Netherlands last July featuring seven Grandmasters gave me lot of confidence,” he recalls in a chat. When he got the first GM norm in the 13 {+t} {+h} Balaguer Open event in Spain last July, it was another significant landmark. Ranked India No. 3 in the under-20 category now, Lalith is determined to complete the third mandatory GM norm to join elite players from the State.

At ‘Yatn’® , we want to ensure that such young talent is encouraged and we request your support.
